21 Jul ARISE, SIR KIERAN! Kieran O’Gorman to be honoured with KNIGHT Award for services to the hair styling industry
Renowned hairstylist Kieran O’Gorman is travelling to Japan this week where he will receive one of the highest honours in his industry – the prestigious KNIGHT award for services to the hair styling sector.
The Kilkenny businessman will be presented with the international award by Intercoiffure Mondial, the world hairdressing organisation comprising 6,000 members across 55 countries. Intercoiffure promotes excellence and the sharing of artistic skills and business knowledge throughout the industry. In 1972 it established the Intercoiffure Order of Knights to honour a distinguished long-standing member for outstanding services to hair styling. Kieran O’Gorman will receive that honour at a special reception this week where he will be presented with the blue label pin that represents the KNIGHT award.
Kieran, who celebrates 25 years in business this year, commented, “I was contacted by the Irish president for Intercoiffure, Maeve O’Healy Harte, who told me the news. It is a huge honour to receive this award and I am delighted and grateful for the accolade”.
Throughout his career, Kieran has been bestowed with a slew of accolades and awards.
He is a former recipient of the top award at the Irish Hairdressing Federation (IHF) Irish Hairdressing Championships. He has already been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Matrix (owned by L’Oreal) for his significant contribution to the industry that includes “sharing his talent, creativity and skills to better the industry via seminars, master classes and industry shows”. Last year he was awarded Stylist of the Year 2016 for Ireland at the Irish Hair & Beauty Awards in Dublin. He is one of only two Irish members of the British Fellowship of Hairdressing.
